I have a long list of songs to complete, but I was able to fulfill a request from my grandma. What can we learn from this song?
Are You Who You Were A Year Ago?
My family and I did some shopping today to find some things for the fall and winter weather that is slowly approaching. Within the midst of jeans and shirts and youth pastor button-ups, I never expected to leave a store reviewing my life. Continue reading
Whose Light Is It Anyway?
I had such a busy schedule in Georgia this week. We were hosting about 13 people from Germany, so my blogging time was significantly cut down. I kept bouncing different ideas around, but one finally popped into my head on the floor of a bedroom. It is funny where inspiration hits.
Dealing with Your Baggage
I have been living out of my suitcase for the past month or so.
Stepping into God’s Plan
“Now then, choose twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one from each tribe. And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the LORD–the Lord of all the earth–set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.” Joshua 3:12-13

Serving the Lord
The following post comes from an older blog of mine that I wrote on August 6, 2013. Enjoy!
Enjoy serving the Lord, and He will give you what you want. Psalm 37:4
God will change your life. He will flip it upside down. He will take you out of your comfort zone. BUT He will never put you in the position of doing something you hate. We all have dreams, ambitions, and talents of some kind. Each of us have been made to serve God in a unique way.
What do you love to do?
What brings you joy?
What gives you a sense of satisfaction?
The longings of the heart are not strictly incidental. They are critical messages! Just know, that not everyone is called to become a preacher. Mark Driscoll quoted “Most people shouldn’t go to seminary. The world needs more teachers, lawyers, doctors, politicians, and business leaders who love Jesus.” Do you like music or blogging or art or comedy? Use those things for God! Anything done by the grace of God to the glory of God is a good work. Our calling is often found at the intersection of our pleasures and God’s plan. Our own passions can be used to turn our lives around.
So let all your favorite things be used to serve God. Enjoy it. God will be gracious unto you.
Remember, some say Jesus spent more years doing good works as a carpenter than a preacher.
Quit While You’re Ahead

I have recently made mention of “quitting while you’re ahead” a few times recently. See, if you know me, you may know that I’m not the most sportsastic person. Over the years, I have played football, soccer, and even paintball, but I was never one to have a baseball or basketball in my hands.
This week has been different for me.
I’ve been in North Carolina since Sunday, and the kids here love playing games. Last night I did two amazing things during these games, but they were both thwarted when I tried to do them again. You can imagine my frustration when I amazed the people around me, but ruined my pedestal when I failed time and time again! It left me wondering, what is the Biblical principle of “quitting while you’re ahead?” At the moment, I had longed to quit early to maintain my clean record, so why did I try again? Was I being greedy or trying to test myself? More importantly, would Jesus want me to quit while I’m ahead in my daily life?
